The Civic Service is held to celebrate a mix of ceremonial, traditional, and community-based activity.

 

Civic Services are part of long-standing British civic tradition, reaffirming the Town Council’s role in public life and civic responsibility.

 

The event provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate those who contribute to the local community - not just Town Councillors - but other organisations and volunteers who are invited to take part.

 

This includes invited guests such as local dignitaries, representatives from our community groups and faith leaders.

 

It also allows the Mayor to promote and raise funds for their chosen charity, which this year is Kirton in Lindsey Shed (Registered Charity No 1216281).

 

The aim of the annual Civic Service is to help promote a sense of community, shared values and civic pride.  It includes a short church service of prayers, music, and readings that reflect the town’s identity and current topics. This also marks the historic link between the Town Council and the Church.  The theme the Mayor has chosen for this year is ‘Kindness’.

 

Our Civic Services are about honouring civic duty, fostering unity and celebrating community life in a formal yet inclusive setting. 

 

All members of our community are welcome to attend, we just ask you let us know ahead for numbers.
